Wake Up Routine

Just as is it important to have a nighttime routine, it can be very beneficial to have a morning routine.

10 reasons you should wake up at 5 AM for 30 days straight
Here are a few reasons why:
    • Routines reduce stress. Trying to remember what needs to be done can be stressful and fill our brains with a constantly changing to do list. Having a routine allows you to just do and takes the thinking out of it. This can lead to more of a sense of control and less stress. Think about something you do on a routine basis, like brushing your teeth- you don’t have to put any thought into it, you just do it before bed and go to sleep. Your morning can have that same structure with a routine.
    • Having a morning routine allows for positive habits. If you are organized with your time, mornings can be the most productive part of your day. With a healthy morning routine, you can create time to exercise, meditate, really enjoy your cup of coffee, or all three! The more you regulate what you do, the easier it becomes.
    • Encourages healthy habits- not only does having a routine give you time to make these healthy dreams a reality, it allows time for them. It can be very difficult to find time to eat a well-balanced diet, exercise or spend time in thought if you are constantly rushing to organize your day to day responsibilities.

Routines can make us happier and healthier, which isn’t what we all really want? Try making small changes, like getting up when your first alarm goes off or spending 2 minutes deep breathing before your morning shower and see how it sets the tone for the rest of your day.

    1. A much-needed post as I miss my regular routine due to this quarantine period. I am really surprised to read about the benefits of a morning routine. My dad who visits the Rehabilitation centre in Chennai follows a strict morning routine as he suffers from spine disorder. Hope the post helps to resume back my healthy habits.
