10 Tips to Leading a Healthier Lifestyle

Change doesn't happen overnight. The key is to take simple steps and add them into your routine over time - there are no quick fixes when it comes to leading a sustainable healthy lifestyle! Below you'll find some tips to help you get started!

1.) Eating right is about 80% of the battle.

Whether you're trying to lose or maintain weight, you can't go wrong with a healthy balanced diet.

2.) Stay hydrated.

Staying hydrated will help you feel energized, reduce fatigue, and keep you feeling good.

3.) Recovery is just as important as what you do at the gym.

Over training will slow progress and can lead to injuries.  Make sure to take the time to warm up, cool down, stretch, and cross train when needed. Don't be afraid to take some days easier than others. You don't have to do a long intense workout every day to see results!

4.) See exercise as a treat and not a punishment.

Working out should make you happy. It's time in your day just for you and it should be fun! If you see working out as a punishment, you'll be less likely to get that workout in for the day. Find activities you enjoy and mix it up often!

5.) Get enough sleep.

Not getting enough sleep can have damaging long term impacts. Make sure you're getting enough sleep every night and you'll wake up feeling better and ready to tackle your day!

6.) Cut down on processed foods and focus on more fruits and veggies.

Processed foods don't provide the nutrients we need to keep our bodies healthy and moving. Pick wholesome fruits and veggies which are full of good for you nutrients!

7.) Move every day.

It doesn't have to be an intense workout every day, but even a quick walk in the sunshine can help boost your mood and energy!

8.) It's not just about the way you look.

Being fit and healthy is about how you feel on the inside. You'll have more energy during the day and sleep better at night. You'll be strong and relieving stress.

9.) Vary your workouts and locations.
If you do the same running route every day 5 days a week, you'll get bored pretty quickly. Instead of walking or running your normal route - head to a trail instead. Or, go for a bike ride, take a fitness class, or jump rope with your kids. The opportunities to stay active are endless and the more you mix it up and have fun, the more sustainable it is in the long run!

10.) Most importantly, be happy with you! Appreciate where you're at right now.
Maybe you have a goal weight in mind or maybe you haven't reached all your goals yet, but that's not a reason to be down on yourself. Think about where you started and appreciate where you're at right now. Be good to you always. The more positive you are about yourself, the better you'll feel!
