Pump up your work day!

How many of you ever feel tired, bored or stress during the work day? What do tend to do to ease these feelings? Common strategies are eating or drinking sugary products or browsing the Internet. The next time you experience try one of the healthy strategies below to pump some energy back into your day.

Hydrate: Dehydration can cause fatigue and headaches. Pay attention to your body's cues; are you hungry or thirsty? It's easy to confuse these signals, and misinterpretation often leads to overeating, which only makes you feel worse.

Go for a long walk during lunch: You may feel like napping in your car, but a long walk will recharge you tenfold. If you get 45 minutes for a lunch break, that should allow you to walk at least 1 mile at a moderate pace. If you try it once you'll be hooked. It will get your blood flowing and provide for an unrivaled focus when you get back to work.

Feed off others' positive energy: Some people just exude positive energy. It's contagious! Find an excuse to talk to those people about something, anything, and share in their effervescence. A good high-energy conversation will leave you feeling invigorated and ready to tackle the rest of your day.

Change your background to something spirited: Visual cues have an impact on your thoughts and your energy levels. That means if you’re working on a computer, your desktop background sets the mood. Change your background to something naturally high energy, lightning storms, the sun, or a pack of running dogs.

Clear the clutter: Clutter will bring you down on a consistent basis. Even if you’re feeling great, it's still there, lurking in the background, keeping you from feeling your best. Clean up your workspace and you’ll feel the difference instantly.

Eat a good lunch: You’re not going to get a good buzz from greasy fast food or a bag of chips.
Something light and filling like a hearty salad will inevitably be better than packaged convenience food. Make sure you get some greens, healthy fats, and protein for an energy-boosting combination.

Let in the light: A lot of workplaces have a bad habit of shutting blinds. Open them up! Even if it's dreary outside, the natural light will give you much more liveliness than those dull florescent light bulbs you find everywhere. If you just do one thing from this list, open the blinds! It makes a tremendous difference.

Whether you're recovering from a late night or just a bad start to your morning, these tips can give your day a serious turnaround. Nothing is worse than feeling awful at work. Luckily, these little changes to your routine and surroundings can transform your lethargy into vitality. It's all up to you; carpe diem!
