Mental Health Management: Finding Support

Mental health professionals can help with big, current issues and be a wonderful preventative resource.

Mental health support can help you catch and manage a potential issue while it is still small, prepare for big life changes, and be there when unexpected events hit hard. Having a relationship with a licensed professional that is a good fit for you is an incredible resource, regardless of your current state of health.

So many kinds... What is the difference?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. Psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. Often “therapist” and “counselor” are used interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Ready? You can find support through:

Invest EAP - Ask for their free short-term counselling if you are looking to be connected to help within the next two weeks. (If you need help today, let them know you would like immediate clinical assistance as there are multiple "routes" of help.  If you request immediate help and call more than once you are unlikely to be connected to the same individual, so establishing a relationship is a good idea if you are not in immediate crisis.)

Search by Specialty: Browse therapists in Vermont, with the option to sort/filter by issue, therapy type, in-person or online availability, and more.

Your primary care doctor may have suggestions based on the exact issues affecting you.  For instance, they may suggest eating disorder specific help, or a grief counselor as being an ideal resource.
